Pelican Odyssey 100X Kayak
The Odyssey 100X is our go-to recreational kayak for paddlers who want stability, comfort, and performance on calm to moderate water. We built this 10-foot sit-inside kayak with our Twin-Sheet thermoforming process for a lightweight hull that tracks beautifully and resists impacts.
The adjustable ERGOFORM padded backrest and seat cushion keep you comfortable on long paddles, while the twin-hatch storage system gives you space for gear, snacks, and dry bags. Whether you're exploring quiet coves or building your fitness routine on the water, the Pelican Odyssey 100X kayak handles like a dream and forgives beginner mistakes with its wide, stable platform.

Hull Construction & Materials
We craft the Odyssey 100X hull using our proprietary RAM-X high-density polyethylene through Twin-Sheet thermoforming. This manufacturing process fuses two sheets of material together, creating a stronger, lighter kayak than traditional rotomolding while maintaining the impact resistance you need on rocky shorelines and shallow water.
The hull’s multi-chine design delivers excellent tracking in a straight line without sacrificing the ability to turn when you need it. Our hull carries a limited lifetime warranty because we stand behind the durability of every kayak that leaves our facility.

Seating & Comfort Features
Adjustable ERGOFORM System
The Odyssey 100X features our ERGOFORM padded backrest that adjusts forward and back to accommodate paddlers of different heights and preferences. The padded seat cushion sits directly on the hull, providing cushioning without trapping water underneath.
Cockpit Layout
We designed the cockpit with a bottle holder within easy reach, paddle tie-downs on both sides, and molded footrests that let you brace your legs for efficient paddle strokes. The cockpit opening measures 20 inches wide by 35 inches long, making entry and exit comfortable for most paddlers while keeping you secure when the water gets choppy.
Storage & Deck Rigging
The front hatch includes a removable storage compartment perfect for keys, phone, and wallet, while the larger rear hatch accommodates a dry bag or camping gear for overnight trips. Both hatches seal with our quick-lock lids that keep water out during paddle splashes and light rain.
Our deck bungee rigging stretches across the bow and stern, securing a dry bag, jacket, or fishing rod case where you can reach it quickly. The same storage philosophy we apply to our recreational kayak series ensures you have a place for everything before you push off the shore.

Odyssey 100X Kayak Questions
The Odyssey 100X has a maximum capacity of 275 lbs, which includes the paddler and all gear. We recommend staying under 250 lbs total for the best performance and stability.
This capacity works well for most adult paddlers with day-trip gear like a dry bag, water bottle, and light snacks. If you're planning overnight trips with camping equipment, consider how your gear weight affects handling before you load up.
Yes, the Odyssey 100X is an excellent beginner kayak. The 28-inch width provides stability that helps new paddlers feel confident, and the sit-inside design keeps you lower in the kayak for better balance.
The multi-chine hull tracks straight without requiring constant steering corrections, so you can focus on building your paddling technique. We designed this model specifically for paddlers who are learning the sport or returning to kayaking after time away.
The Odyssey 100X is designed for calm to moderate water conditions like lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers. We do not recommend this kayak for ocean use, especially in areas with surf, strong currents, or offshore winds.
If you plan to paddle in coastal bays or protected harbors, stay close to shore and check weather conditions before launching. For open ocean or rough water paddling, consider our touring kayak models that offer more length and stability in challenging conditions.
At 40 lbs, the Odyssey 100X is light enough for one person to lift onto standard crossbars or a J-cradle roof rack. Position the kayak upside down on foam blocks or saddles, and secure it with cam straps around the hull at two points.
Run a bow and stern line from the kayak to your vehicle's tie-down points for additional security during highway driving. We recommend investing in quality kayak carriers if you plan to transport your Odyssey 100X regularly.
For the Odyssey 100X's 28-inch width, we recommend a paddle between 220 cm and 240 cm depending on your height and paddling style. Paddlers under 5'6" typically prefer a 220 cm paddle, while those over 5'10" usually choose 230-240 cm.
If you use a more vertical paddling stroke, go with the shorter end of the range. A lower-angle touring stroke works better with a longer paddle. Many outdoor retailers let you test different paddle lengths before purchasing.
Yes, we stock replacement parts for all major components including hatch covers, bungee cord, seat cushions, and backrest assemblies. You can order parts directly through our website or contact our customer service team for assistance identifying the correct replacement.
Our hull carries a limited lifetime warranty, and we support our kayaks with parts availability for many years after production. Keep your kayak's serial number handy when ordering parts to ensure you receive components that fit your specific model year.
The Odyssey 100X offers good stability for light fishing on calm water, though it's primarily designed as a recreational touring kayak rather than a dedicated fishing platform. The 28-inch width provides enough stability for casting while seated, and the deck rigging can secure a small tackle box or rod.
For serious anglers who want to stand and cast or need multiple rod holders, we recommend looking at our sit-on-top models that offer wider, flatter decks specifically designed for fishing applications.
