Pelican Blitz 100X Kayak – Lightweight Sit-On-Top for All Skill Levels

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

We designed the Pelican Blitz 100X kayak for paddlers who want agile performance without sacrificing stability. This 10-foot sit-on-top kayak features twin-arched multi-chine hull design that delivers exceptional tracking in calm water and responsive handling when navigating tight turns.

The Blitz 100X uses our proprietary RAM-X™ impact-resistant material that stands up to rocks, docks, and UV exposure while keeping the overall weight at just 43 pounds. Whether you're launching from a dock, beach, or shoreline, our molded side carry handles and bow toggle handle make solo transport effortless.

We included an adjustable ERGOFORM™ padded backrest that supports extended time on the water, plus molded footrests that accommodate paddlers of varying heights. The large rear tankwell with bungee tie-downs secures your dry bag or cooler, while the bottle holder keeps hydration within arm's reach during your paddle.

Hull Design & Performance
Product details

Hull Design & Performance

The Blitz 100X features our twin-arched multi-chine hull technology that creates stability channels along the bottom of the kayak. These channels act as secondary keels, improving straight-line tracking while maintaining the nimble turning radius you need for exploring narrow waterways and shoreline features.

We engineered the 30-inch beam width to provide a stable platform for entry-level paddlers while keeping the overall profile sleek enough for experienced kayakers who value speed. The sit-on-top deck design offers easy remounting from the water and eliminates the enclosed cockpit feeling that some paddlers find restrictive.

Comfort & Adjustability
Sizing & fit

Comfort & Adjustability

We built the ERGOFORM™ backrest system with dense foam padding that contours to your lower back and adjusts forward or back on integrated rail tracks. Four positioning slots let you dial in the perfect distance from the seat base to the backrest, accommodating torso lengths from 16 to 22 inches.

The molded seat pan includes drainage channels that prevent water pooling while providing cushioned support for extended paddling sessions. We positioned the footrests in five molded locations spanning 8 inches of adjustment range, so paddlers from 5’2″ to 6’4″ can achieve proper leg positioning and efficient paddle stroke mechanics.

Styling

Storage & Cargo Capacity

The rear tankwell measures 24 inches long by 18 inches wide, providing ample space for a medium dry bag, small cooler, or camping gear. We installed a heavy-duty bungee cord system with six anchor points that creates a secure web over your cargo and allows quick access without unfastening clips or buckles.

The 275-pound maximum capacity includes your body weight plus all gear, which typically allows for 80-120 pounds of equipment depending on paddler size. We recommend distributing heavier items toward the center of the tankwell to maintain optimal trim and handling characteristics.

Perfect stability for a beginner
I bought the Blitz 100X as my first kayak and couldn't be happier. It feels rock-solid on the water even when I make clumsy movements getting in and out. The backrest is way more comfortable than I expected for a kayak in this price range.

Light enough to load by myself
At 62 years old, I needed something I could handle without help. The Blitz is light enough that I can lift it onto my SUV roof rack using the side handles, and the carry handles are positioned perfectly for balance.

Great tracking for a short kayak
I was worried a 10-foot kayak would spin in circles, but the Blitz tracks surprisingly well. I can paddle in a straight line without constantly correcting. Only wish the tankwell was slightly bigger for overnight camping trips.

Survived my rocky learning curve
I've hit underwater rocks, scraped docks, and dragged this kayak across gravel beaches more times than I can count. The hull still looks great and shows no cracks. That RAM-X material really is tough.

Easy remount after swimming
We intentionally flipped and practiced remounting during our first outing. The sit-on-top design makes it so easy to climb back on from the water. My kids love jumping off and getting back on repeatedly.

Comfortable for 3-hour paddles
The adjustable backrest is a game-changer. I can paddle for several hours without the lower back fatigue I experienced with my old kayak. The footrests stay put even when I push hard during strokes.

Pelican Blitz 100X Kayak Questions

The maximum capacity for the Blitz 100X is 275 pounds, which includes your body weight plus all gear, clothing, and equipment. We recommend staying at least 20-30 pounds below the maximum capacity for optimal performance and safety margins.

For reference, a 180-pound paddler can comfortably carry 70-95 pounds of gear while maintaining good stability and handling characteristics.

Yes, the Blitz 100X is suitable for saltwater use in protected bays, calm ocean inlets, and near-shore coastal areas. The RAM-X™ material resists saltwater corrosion, and all hardware is marine-grade stainless steel or corrosion-resistant plastic.

We recommend the Blitz 100X for calm to light chop conditions only. This kayak is not designed for open ocean paddling, surf zones, or conditions with waves exceeding 1-2 feet. Always rinse thoroughly with fresh water after saltwater use.

No, the Blitz 100X is an excellent choice for first-time kayakers. The wide 30-inch beam and twin-arched hull provide exceptional primary stability that helps beginners feel confident from their first paddle stroke.

We do recommend taking a basic kayaking safety course or watching instructional videos to learn proper paddling technique, self-rescue methods, and water safety fundamentals before your first outing. Always wear a properly fitted personal flotation device regardless of experience level.

For the Blitz 100X's 30-inch width, we recommend paddle lengths between 220-240 cm depending on your height and paddling style. Paddlers under 5'6" typically prefer 220-230 cm paddles, while those over 5'10" usually choose 230-240 cm lengths.

Sit-on-top kayaks position you slightly higher above the waterline than sit-inside designs, so you may prefer a paddle 5-10 cm longer than you'd use in a traditional cockpit kayak. We suggest trying different lengths at a local paddlesports retailer before purchasing.

The Blitz 100X deck accommodates flush-mount rod holders, fish finder transducers, and other accessories using standard marine mounting hardware. The deck thickness is 4mm, suitable for self-tapping screws or through-bolt installations with backing plates.

We recommend using marine sealant on all screw holes to prevent water intrusion into the hull cavity. Position accessories behind the cockpit area to avoid interfering with paddle strokes. Most anglers install rod holders in the rear tankwell corners or along the gunwales just behind the seat.

The Blitz 100X comes complete with an adjustable ERGOFORM™ padded backrest, molded footrests, rear tankwell bungee cord system, bottle holder, carry handles, and drain plug. The kayak is ready to use upon delivery.

Paddles, personal flotation devices, dry bags, and other accessories are sold separately. We offer complete starter packages that include a paddle and PFD at a discounted bundle price when purchased together with the kayak.

The 10-foot Blitz 100X prioritizes maneuverability and portability over straight-line speed and tracking distance. It turns more easily in tight spaces and weighs less for transport, but won't maintain momentum as efficiently as a 12-foot kayak during long-distance paddling.

For lake exploring, river meandering, and trips under 5 miles, the Blitz 100X offers an ideal balance. Paddlers planning regular trips over 8-10 miles or open-water touring should consider our 12-foot Sprint 120X for better glide and reduced paddling effort over distance.
