Pelican Strike 100NXT Angler Sit-In Kayak
We designed the Pelican Strike 100NXT Angler sit-in kayak to give anglers the perfect balance of maneuverability and fishing features in a compact 10-foot hull. This sit-in design puts you lower in the water for enhanced stability while casting, landing fish, or navigating choppy conditions.
The Strike 100NXT features our RAM-X™ Impact Resistant hull construction, multiple rod holders, and an open cockpit that gives you easy access to your tackle and gear. Built-in storage compartments keep essentials dry, while the adjustable padded seat ensures you stay comfortable during long days on the water.
Strike 100NXT Angler specs & features

Hull Design & Stability
The Strike 100NXT hull incorporates our twin-arched multi-chine design that provides exceptional secondary stability when you lean to cast or fight a fish. At 30 inches wide, this kayak offers a stable platform without sacrificing the speed and tracking you need to cover water efficiently.
Our proprietary RAM-X™ material resists impacts from rocks, logs, and rough launches better than standard polyethylene. The hull’s slight v-shape cuts through chop while the flared bow deflects spray, keeping you drier in wind-driven waves. We shaped the stern with a defined keel line that helps the Strike 100NXT track straight with minimal correction strokes, so you can focus on fishing instead of constant course adjustments.

Fishing Features & Storage
We positioned two flush-mount rod holders behind the cockpit at angles that keep rods secure while trolling and easily accessible when you hook up. The quick-lock rod holder mounts on the gunwale for rapid rod changes when targeting multiple species.
Gear Storage Solutions
The front tank well accepts a standard 5-gallon bucket or soft-sided cooler and includes a mesh deck cover to secure loose items. Our rear storage hatch features a removable watertight compartment that keeps phones, wallets, and keys completely dry even in rough water. Molded gear tracks on both gunwales let you mount fish finders, camera arms, or additional rod holders exactly where you want them.
Comfort & Fit
The Strike 100NXT’s cockpit opening measures 45 inches long by 21 inches wide, providing easy entry and exit while giving you freedom to shift positions throughout the day. We installed our EXOPOD™ footrest system with four adjustment positions that accommodate paddlers from 5 feet to 6 feet 4 inches tall.
Our padded seat includes an adjustable backrest with multiple recline positions and integrated bottle holder in the seat frame. The seat bottom features ventilation channels that reduce heat buildup during summer fishing sessions. For paddlers exploring our full lineup, the same comfort-focused seating appears across our recreational kayak collection with sizing variations for different hull lengths.

Strike 100NXT Angler Questions
The Strike 100NXT has a maximum capacity of 275 pounds, which includes the paddler, fishing gear, tackle, cooler, and any accessories you mount to the hull. Most anglers find this capacity sufficient for a full day of fishing with rods, tackle boxes, and a small cooler.
We recommend staying at least 20-30 pounds below the maximum capacity for optimal performance and stability, especially if you're paddling in choppy conditions or planning to stand while fishing.
While the Strike 100NXT's 30-inch beam width and multi-chine hull design provide good secondary stability, this sit-in kayak is not specifically designed for stand-up fishing. Most anglers can carefully stand for brief moments to land fish or reach gear, but it's primarily intended for seated fishing.
If stand-up fishing is a priority, we recommend looking at our sit-on-top models like the Catch 100 Angler, which feature a wider platform and elevated seating position specifically engineered for standing stability.
The Strike 100NXT performs well in calm coastal waters, protected bays, and estuaries where wave action is minimal. The sit-in design keeps you lower in the water and drier than sit-on-top models in light chop.
However, we recommend staying within sight of shore and avoiding offshore paddling, strong currents, or conditions with waves over 12 inches. For more exposed saltwater environments, consider our 12-foot models with greater hull volume and enhanced seaworthiness.
For the Strike 100NXT's 30-inch beam width, we recommend a paddle length between 220cm and 240cm depending on your height and paddling style. Paddlers under 5'6" typically use 220-230cm paddles, while taller paddlers (5'8" and above) prefer 230-240cm lengths.
Your local Pelican dealer can help you test paddle lengths to find your optimal fit. We also recommend choosing a lightweight paddle with asymmetrical blades for reduced fatigue during long fishing sessions.
The Strike 100NXT includes the kayak hull with installed seat, footrests, rod holders, and storage hatches. Paddles and personal flotation devices (PFDs) are sold separately to let you choose the specific models that match your preferences and local regulations.
We carry a full line of kayak paddles and USCG-approved PFDs through our dealer network. Your dealer can help you select the right paddle length and PFD style for your body type and intended use.
At 52 pounds and 10 feet long, the Strike 100NXT is manageable for solo cartop loading. We recommend using kayak-specific J-cradles, saddles, or foam blocks on your roof rack system, securing the kayak with cam straps around the hull at two points.
Always use bow and stern tie-downs connected to your vehicle's tow hooks or frame (not the bumper) for safety at highway speeds. The molded carry handles at bow and stern are positioned at balance points for comfortable one-person carries from your vehicle to the launch.
After each use, rinse the kayak with fresh water to remove salt, sand, and debris. Inspect the drain plug and storage hatch seals periodically, replacing them if you notice cracks or compression. Check rod holder inserts and bungee cords for wear, especially after frequent use.
Store the kayak out of direct sunlight when possible to preserve the hull color. If outdoor storage is necessary, use a UV-protective kayak cover. The RAM-X™ hull material is impact-resistant and requires no waxing or special treatments beyond basic cleaning.
