Yosemite 100X specifications

Hull Design & Construction
We manufacture every Yosemite 100X kayak using our exclusive RAM-X™ impact-resistant polyethylene material. This advanced formulation delivers superior durability against rocks, logs, and shore impacts while maintaining a lightweight 36-pound design you can easily lift onto your car roof or carry to the water.
The twin-arched multi-chine hull configuration provides the stable platform recreational paddlers need. The flat bottom enhances initial stability when you’re entering and exiting the kayak, while the subtle chines add secondary stability during turns and in light chop. This hull shape makes the Pelican Yosemite 100X kayak particularly forgiving for beginners while still offering responsive handling for more experienced paddlers.

Seating & Comfort System
ERGOFORM™ Padded Seating
We designed the ERGOFORM™ seating system specifically for extended paddling sessions. The contoured padded backrest supports your lumbar region while allowing freedom of movement for efficient paddle strokes. The adjustable seat cushion slides forward or back to position your weight optimally in the cockpit.
Both the backrest and seat cushion feature drainage channels that prevent water pooling, keeping you comfortable even after getting in and out of the kayak multiple times. The quick-adjust straps let you fine-tune your seating position on the water without tools.
Storage & Accessories
The Yosemite 100X includes a sealed Quick-lock front hatch that keeps your valuables, snacks, and dry bags protected from splashes and rain. The 10-liter capacity is perfect for a water bottle, phone, keys, and lunch for a full day on the water. The quick-lock mechanism opens and closes with one hand, so you can access your gear without returning to shore.
Behind the seat, we incorporated a large open tankwell with bungee deck rigging. This area accommodates a dry bag, cooler, or fishing crate, secured by the adjustable bungee cords. The integrated bottle holder keeps your water within easy reach, positioned just forward of the cockpit where you can grab it without interrupting your paddle rhythm.

Questions About the Yosemite 100X Kayak
The Yosemite 100X has a maximum weight capacity of 275 pounds. This includes the paddler's weight plus all gear, supplies, and accessories.
For optimal performance and stability, we recommend staying within 80% of the maximum capacity (approximately 220 pounds total). This provides better handling, improved tracking, and keeps more freeboard above the waterline.
Yes, the Yosemite 100X is fully suitable for saltwater use in protected coastal areas, bays, and estuaries. The RAM-X™ polyethylene hull resists saltwater corrosion, and all hardware is marine-grade.
After each saltwater outing, rinse your kayak thoroughly with fresh water, paying special attention to the hatch seal, footrest tracks, and any metal components. This simple maintenance step prevents salt buildup and extends the life of all kayak components.
At 36 pounds and 10 feet long, the Yosemite 100X is easy to car-top on standard crossbar roof racks. Place the kayak hull-down (upside down) across padded crossbars spaced at least 3 feet apart.
Secure the kayak with cam straps around both crossbars, then add bow and stern tie-downs connected to your vehicle's tow points or frame. Many paddlers use foam kayak blocks if their vehicle doesn't have a roof rack system. Always transport with the drain plug installed to prevent wind from entering the hull.
Absolutely. We specifically designed the Yosemite 100X with a twin-arched multi-chine hull that provides exceptional primary and secondary stability, making it one of our most beginner-friendly models.
The 28-inch beam width and flat bottom section create a stable platform when entering, exiting, and paddling. New paddlers consistently report feeling confident from their first time on the water. The forgiving stability doesn't compromise performance – experienced paddlers appreciate the responsive handling as well.
For the Yosemite 100X's 28-inch width, most paddlers perform best with a 220cm to 240cm paddle. Taller paddlers (over 6 feet) typically prefer 230-240cm, while shorter paddlers (under 5'6") often choose 210-220cm.
Your paddling style also influences length – a higher angle paddling stroke works better with shorter paddles, while a lower angle touring stroke suits longer paddles. We recommend testing different lengths if possible before purchasing.
The Yosemite 100X kayak does not include a paddle or personal flotation device (PFD). We sell these items separately so you can choose equipment that matches your height, paddling style, and local regulations.
Every paddler should wear a properly fitted USCG-approved life jacket while on the water. Visit our accessories section to browse our selection of paddles, PFDs, and other kayaking essentials designed to complement your Yosemite 100X.
The Quick-lock hatch uses a compression seal system with a single locking mechanism. To open, simply pull the lock lever and lift the hatch cover. The hatch seals when you press it closed and engage the lock lever – the compression seal creates a watertight barrier.
The 10-liter hatch compartment keeps gear dry during normal paddling and light rain. While highly water-resistant, we recommend using a dry bag inside the hatch compartment for electronics and items that must stay completely dry in rough conditions or during capsizing.
